Why go digital
Why choose a digital star certificate?
A traditional name a star kit can take a week or more to arrive by post. A digital star registration is ready the moment you finish ordering, which makes it one of the few meaningful gifts you can still give on the day itself. It is perfect for last-minute birthdays, surprise anniversaries and loved ones on the other side of the world.
Because the certificate is a digital download, you decide how to present it. Send it straight to the recipient by email or WhatsApp, print it at home on quality card, or take the file to a print shop and frame it for a keepsake that hangs on the wall for years.
And unlike a physical certificate that can be lost, your star stays on record. The registration number on the certificate can be checked at any time, so the person you named the star after can always find it again.

FAQ
Name a star: frequently asked questions
How do I register a star?
Choose a package at Name A Star Registry, give your star a name, pick a constellation and add a personal message. After checkout your digital star certificate is ready to download straight away.
How quickly will I receive my star certificate?
Instantly. The certificate is a digital download, so there is no printing or shipping to wait for. It is ideal for last-minute birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
Can I print the digital certificate?
Yes. The digital download can be printed at home or at a local print shop and framed, or simply shared by email or messaging app.
Can I look up a star after I have named it?
Yes. Every package includes a lifetime registry lookup. Enter the registration number from your certificate on our Check Registration page to view the record at any time.
Is naming a star officially recognised by astronomers?
Official scientific star designations are assigned by the International Astronomical Union. Naming a star through a registry is a symbolic, personal gift: the name is recorded in the registry and on your certificate, not in scientific star catalogues.
What occasions is a named star good for?
Birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, Christmas, weddings, new babies, graduations and memorials. A star is also a thoughtful gift for long-distance loved ones or someone who already has everything.
